10 More Storage Tips!

  1. Utilize foam and bubble wrap. Bubble wrap isn’t just for UPS and Amazon. Cushion your prized possessions on a bed of air.
  2. Use Clear Plastic Containers. Clear Storage Containers allow you to see what’s inside without having to open the container.
  3. Make a list of the things in your storage unit. Or you’ll ask yourself: “Hey, is this in the storage unit or in the house somewhere?” As you move items in or out keep the list up to date.
  4. Store items you might need often in the front of the unit. You don’t want to have to move everything just to get to that item.
  5. Don’t share your gate/door code. Cool Air Storage is a secure facility, but that won’t help if your code is widely shared. Keep it private!
  6. Drain liquids out of appliances. If you are storing washers, freezers or similar appliances, be sure to drain the liquid out of it. It can freeze, causing damage to the appliance and also cause mold to grow.
  7. Borrow or rent a pickup truck or moving van. And don’t forget plenty of tie down straps. You don’t want your property falling out into the highway!
  8. Store Seasonal Items together. That makes it easy to find all your Christmas or beach items without searching all through your unit.
  9. Use Dryer Sheets or Glue Boards. Make sure your belongings are safe from pests. Spiders, roaches, and rats can all find their way into Drive Up units. Capture them with Glue Boards or repel them by using dryer sheets. The smell will keep them away while leaving your belongings smelling fresh. Replace sheets often.
  10. Check your lock! Double check that you have locked the unit properly. Unlocked doors can lead to stolen possessions.
